October 2022 marks the third Veterinary Month of Movement (VMOM) – the month where the veterinary community is encouraged to come together, get active, and fundraise for Vetlife.
Why get involved?
Vetlife is a charity which provides support to the veterinary community, through its Helpline, Health Support and Financial Support services. Demand for the charity’s services has been increasing year on year, with applications for financial support increasing by 85 percent since 2019. The impending cost of living crisis will mean that this support will be needed more than ever.
VMOM is an opportunity to join forces with colleagues, set a shared goal for the month, and get running, walking, swimming, cycling, or even horse-riding!
The links between exercise and mental health are well documented, so not only will you be helping support the wellbeing of others through fundraising for Vetlife, but you’ll also be boosting your own wellbeing too.
Vetlife trustee Richard Killen said: “It is well recognised how important physical activity is for wellbeing and what better way to promote within your workplace than participating in this event.
“Vetlife is a great charity with ever increasing demands on its services and it is hoped that much needed funds can be raised through the VMOM campaign. Vetlife will be grateful for any contributions to its work.”
