First student complete Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing

VetSkill are delighted to share the success of the first student, charlotte Bunyan, to complete their Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing

Charlotte Bunyan, was the first student to compete VetSkill‘s Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing qualification after embarking on the start of her programme with Askham Bryan College in 2019.

Charlotte Bunyan, said: “I am a mature student who has just completed the VetSkill veterinary nursing diploma, years 2019 to 2021. I completed the course over two years. I have really enjoyed it, there were tough times through COVID-19 but the support and dedication of the tutors was amazing. I have been nursing for 21 years and to achieve my qualification and be on the register of the RCVS is absolutely amazing a dream come true.”

VetSkill began offering this qualification September 2019 and currently has 25 centres delivering the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, 1,800 budding student veterinary nurses headed towards earning their wings to join the register.

Emily Smith, further education co-ordinator, Askham Bryan, said: “Askham Bryan college offers the VetSkill Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing to both employed and apprenticeship learners. Using a weekly release design enables learners to apply their learning quickly, strengthening their understanding and cementing their knowledge and skills.

“We offer a structured yet flexible pastoral programme, tailored to meet the needs of individual learners. Developing autonomous professionals and delivering with purpose is part of our DNA and this extends beyond the classroom.”

The Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing forms one of many significant milestones for VetSkill, who look forwards to seeing more students gain the practical competence and underpinning knowledge required to join the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses in the future.

Greg Warman, chairman of VetSkill Limited, said: “I would like to congratulate Charlotte on her achievement. I hope Charlotte enjoys a bright future as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.”

Based in Godmanchester, near Cambridge, VetSkill is an awarding organisation offering a range of qualifications regulated by Ofqual and CCEA to a variety of centres across the UK. It is also approved to operate a register for Suitably Qualified Person’s (SQP).
