The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has been working with its counterpart in Ukraine (the Ukrainian Small Animal Veterinary Association (USAVA)) to understand how best to help support Ukrainian veterinary professionals, whether they remain in Ukraine or have sought refuge elsewhere.
The USAVA has advised that access to BSAVA information would help Ukrainian vets whether they are still practising in challenging conditions in Ukraine or have fled the conflict and wish to seek work in other countries.
Sheldon Middleton, BSAVA President, explains: “As an education charity we are limited in how we can utilise our funds in this situation but the USAVA told us that access to education resources would be valuable not only to vets still in Ukraine but also to so many of those who are now refugees.
“For those who are working outside of the Ukraine for the first time, information on unfamiliar procedures and drugs will be valuable. For those who are not in a position to work, they can use the BSAVA’s resources to help them continue to learn and be involved in the profession we share and love.
“I am delighted that we have been able to provide free overseas membership as well as access to Congress on Demand and hope this goes some way to supporting our Ukrainian colleagues at this time.”
The BSAVA will:
- Grant complimentary access to all Congress on Demand content
- Provide free overseas membership for one year, including reference to the Small Animal Formulary
- Arrange access to BSAVA Collections (their library of reference information built around topics and themes for easy reference)
More information and access to Congress On Demand can be found on the BSAVA website.
