VetPartners has underlined its commitment to Quality Improvement (QI) after its success in being selected as a highly commended runner-up for the RCVS Knowledge Champion Award.
The veterinary group, which has 160 practices across the UK, has been highlighted as “one to watch in the awards in recognition of its passion and commitment to Quality Improvement.
The Knowledge Awards showcase QI implementation, and the individuals and teams that have driven improvement within the profession.
By improving patient-centred care and embedding evidence-based veterinary medicine, VetPartners is nurturing a culture of continuous improvement across the group with the ultimate goal of strengthening the support for practice teams and enhancing the care of animals.
Dr Rachel Dean, VetPartners Director of Clinical Research and Excellence in Practice, said: “Being highly commended is a great boost and acknowledgement that we are on the right track. We are delighted we have been named as ‘one to watch’ as this award is just the first step as we continue our QI programme for VetPartners.
“We want whole teams involved as this is for anyone working with clients and who helps us care for animals across all species. One of the key things we believe is important is that teams get together regularly to talk about things that have gone wrong or have gone really well so we can share information and see where we need get better, which is the foundation of QI.
“QI has helped us to establish support networks across our family of practices and a lot of satisfaction can be achieved from being able to reassure everyone that we are doing a job well. By putting systems in place, we can ensure that changes and improvements are communicated effectively amongst our practice teams, which is important in a large group.”
The RCVS Knowledge Champion Award is open to anyone working within the veterinary industry, including those from a practice setting and educators and learners from under and post-graduate education.
Dr Dean added: “It is important that a large veterinary group commits to QI because of our scale. We believe we are an excellent example of the process by which to establish QI within a large organisation. It is lovely to have the support of our practice teams, who very much want our QI initiatives to continue and we would like to thank the RCVS.”
