75 percent of Brits feel they can’t protect themselves from breathing contaminated air

64 percent of people are now more concerned about air quality in the indoor environments they visit

Research released by Rentokil Initial has found that more than half of the population (52 percent) worries that life will never get back to normal following the pandemic, despite positive developments surrounding Coronavirus vaccines.

The poll of 2,000 adults found that airborne transmission of Coronavirus remains a key concern. Three quarters (75 percent) believe they can easily wash or sanitise their hands to protect against contaminated surfaces, but they can’t protect themselves from breathing in contaminated air. Seven in ten (71 percent) worry that when people do not wear facemasks in public, they could be transmitting Coronavirus in the air.

Furthermore, almost two thirds (64 percent) of people are now more concerned about air quality in the indoor environments they visit than they were before the pandemic.

The research comes as Rentokil Initial announced an agreement to distribute VIRUSKILLER air purification technology which is proven to kill 99.9999 percent of viruses with a single air pass, including Coronavirus*.

Unlike traditional air purifiers that can “trap” airborne particles and microbes, the VIRUSKILLER also decontaminates the air, by not only trapping but also killing airborne viruses, bacteria and fungi**. When placed correctly the unit takes control of the airflow in a room, drawing contaminated air in from the “breathing zone” and then releasing fresh, clean air back into the breathing zone.

* When independently tested against Coronavirus DF2 (a surrogate for Coronavirus) -, Adenovirus, Influenza and Polio, the unit was found to kill 99.9999 percent of viruses on a single air pass

** When independently tested against reference bacteria (Klebsiella pneumoniae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Staphyloccus aureus subsp. Aureus, Streptoccocus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli), the unit was found to kill 99.9999% of bacteria on a single air pass.
