Continuing with its series of hugely popular Welfare Wednesday Webinars, equine charity World Horse Welfare will this week be expanding on one of the most pressing topics for horse owners: managing a horse’s weight. After a previous discussion on this topic, on Wednesday 26 August at 7pm the next live webinar will revisit this issue, welcoming back internationally renowned clinical equine nutritionist Dr Teresa Hollands to share some of the science behind equine nutrition and highlight the key areas you need to be aware of when feeding your horses.
Teresa will be joined by Sara Jerman, Assistant Centre Manager at World Horse Welfare’s Glenda Spooner Rescue and Rehoming Centre. Sara will explain some of the practical ways a horse’s nutritional intake can be managed – including real examples of what World Horse Welfare does – and how to ensure you are doing your best to keep your horses at a healthy weight.
Both Teresa and Sara have spent their lives working with a range of horses and owners; and know first-hand the challenges that owners face when it comes to maintaining their horses’ weight at a healthy level. While much of the information shared will focus on ways to reduce a horse’s weight, there will be lots of useful tips and interesting discussion for you to enjoy even if your horse or pony isn’t prone to weight gain.
Please register for the webinar, which will allow you to watch the event live, as well as take part interactively in question and answer sessions and polls. These webinars can also be viewed on Facebook, as a Facebook live session (although lacking the interactive elements), and all are available to catch up on World Horse Welfare’s YouTube channel after the event.
