Applicants for this year’s Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management (CVPM) are reminded that 1 August is the deadline for the submission of their written report and exam entry form.
The CVPM, developed by the Veterinary Management Group (VMG), is the benchmark for veterinary employers seeking veterinary management expertise and covers six core areas: strategic management; general management; personnel; communications; financial planning and marketing. Applicants are required to submit their 3,000-word report by 1 August and take an examination in November. The examination takes the form of a ten-minute presentation on a subject supplied by the examining board; a 15-minute professional discussion of the submitted report and two further 30-minute oral exams on related topics.
VMG Group Development Manager, Dr Hannah Perrin, said: “Effective management has never been more important as practices emerge from the COVID-19 lockdown and start to rebuild their businesses in a ‘new normal’ environment. Those involved in practice management require expertise in all the key aspects of running a successful business, as well as a deep understanding of the veterinary sector. The CVPM is, quite rightly, a testing qualification and is recognised as a benchmark for excellence.”
The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) is the UK’s leading association for those working in leadership and management roles in the veterinary sector. A not-for-profit organisation, it works to champion the professional and personal development of those in the veterinary profession through CPD, networking, certified management accreditation and the provision of educational resources.
