Packed with more than 100 stands, the BEVA Congress exhibition hall is a favourite congress location for networking, socialising, eating and drinking. This year, with the chance to win a whopping cash prize it’s likely to be more popular than ever. Using the BEVA Congress App delegates simply have to follow the clues to find the answers to a series of clinical conundrums hidden round the exhibition hall. The highest ranked players at the end of Congress will win £1000.
While delegates are busy scavenging they can enjoy checking out the BEVA members’ lounge where new events will be hosted every day:
- The Animal Health Trust will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of the important BEVA Defra AHT Disease Surveillance programme for the duration of Congress.
- Meet the President on Thursday between 5 and 5:30, gives delegates the opportunity to chat to BEVA’s presidential tree (Tim Mair, Incoming President, Renate Weller (President) and Lucy Grieve (Junior Vice President).
- BEVA’s MumsVet will be hosting a coffee hour on the stand on Friday between 4:30 and 5:30 where members of the MumsVet team hope to join other working mums and dads to have a chat.
The exhibition hall also hosts the highly popular practical demo area, which gives delegates the opportunity to take some practical-based CPD. Thursday’s session will be all about wound repair, wound dressing, bandaging and casting skills, with Patrick Pollock, University of Edinburgh, Ceri Sherlock, Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic, Ellen Singer, Rachel Tucker, Liphook Equine Hospital. On Friday the focus will be on the distal limb, with the opportunity to practice distal limb ultrasounds, nerve blocks and intra-articular analgesia with Sue Dyson, Andrew Fiske-Jackson, Royal Veterinary College, Yvonne Elce, University of Edinburgh.
VetFit will also be in the exhibition hall giving vets top tips on how they can stay fit and healthy while at work. On Thursday and Friday delegates can sign up to a fitness session, which will take place on the balcony in the exhibition hall.
William Bedell of Horse Weigh said: “Horse Weigh is looking forward to hopefully beating last year’s ‘record breaking’ BEVA, for receiving orders during Congress; this is our 17th consecutive BEVA, and the appetite for accurate weighing continues its upward curve.”
Heather Armstrong, Director of The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust said: “We love attending BEVA to attract volunteers, to network and to thank the wonderful vets and organisations who support us.”
Dr Ruedi Steiger of Swissvet said: “We have been selling dentistry equipment for 20 years but only in the USA. We have heard so many great things about the BEVA that we finally are attending. I can hardly wait!”
The Scavenger Hunt winner will be contacted following Congress and announced in eNews by the end of September 2019. The prize money has been generously sponsored by SwissVet Veterinary Products, Eickemeyer, HW Anderson and MSD.
