Placement of a thoracic drain trocar

We are going to demonstrate how to place a thoracic drain trocar in a dog. After advancing the tube and trocar subcutaneously to the 7th or 8th intercostal space, the tip of the trocar is seated vertically between the ribs. Subsequently, grasp the tube firmly with the non-dominant hand about two centimeters from the body wall firmly and drive the tube into thorax.
