A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. Liz Lannie

Liz Lannie, BSc (Hons), PGDip (CABC), RVN, is a pet behaviourist and veterinary nurse who writes behavioural content for Bella and Duke. Having worked with animals since graduating 21 years ago, she has gained a PGDip in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling and full membership of INTODogs. Liz has previously worked in animal rescue and veterinary practice and as a dog trainer and pet behaviourist. She currently works with veterinary nursing students at a local college. She shares her life with her husband, children and Sprocker Spaniel, Mac.
