A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. Laura Hughes

Laura Hughes, RVN, C&G Cert SAN is the veterinary nurse development manager at Purina PetCare. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2002 and worked across first opinion, referral and rescue centre practices before joining Purina. Since joining Purina she has worked in various roles across the business. Her current role is to promote advocacy for Purina within veterinary nurses in practice as well as technical training for the Purina Veterinary Nutrition Partners. Her aim is to further develop the awareness of Purina’s research which lead to the current product portfolio and to inspire more people to be passionate about nutrition.
