A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. Sema Assi-Yamagata

Sema Assi-Yamagata, RVN, C&G Cert, VNES, qualified in 2012 and has worked for various charities as well as private practices. Following her qualification, Sema gained her certificate in veterinary nursing of exotics species. She adores cats and dogs, but has always had a great interest in exotics, too. Sema also enjoys teaching and is a clinical coach at the RVC’s Beaumont Sainsburys Animal Hospital. She currently lives with two dogs, a cat, a leopard gecko and a corn snake.
