A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. Kirstie Pickles

Kirstie Pickles, BVMS, PGCert(CounsSkills), MSc, PhD, CertEM(IntMed), DipECEIM, FHEA, MRCVS, is a clinical assistant professor at Nottingham Vet School and has worked in private practice and academia. She is a mental health first aid (MHFA) instructor and, being autistic and a parent to an autistic child, is a passionate advocate for autism awareness. In 2021, Kirstie and Brad Hill were awarded the RCVS Mind Matters Initiative Sarah Brown Research Grant investigating workplace stressors of autistic vets.
