A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. Kim Houghton

Kim Houghton is a registered veterinary nurse from the Liverpool area. She moved to South Africa in 2015 to pursue her dreams, and set up Wild Inside Adventures, a travel agency specialising in veterinary and conservation programmes, internships and courses throughout Africa. Kim is a keen horse-rider, and also loves walking her three-legged dog, Ntengu.
