A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. We couldn’t be more grateful for the community you’ve helped us build and hope to see you on this exciting next step. Find out more

Jonathan Prager

Jonathan “Jon” Prager graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013, and after a few months working in South Africa, returned to the UK to work in mixed practice for 18 months, followed by a one-year rotating internship.

Jon developed a research interest in spinal cord injury, completing a PhD in regenerative medicine and neuroscience at the University of Bristol in 2019, investigating modified olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation. He subsequently spent two years at the Royal Veterinary College as a postdoctoral researcher, working to develop an “intelligent neuroprosthesis” to manage incontinence after spinal cord injury.

After a late gap year, he started at Bristol Vet Specialists as a resident in neurology in July 2022.
