Jane Clark
Jane Clark is the director of veterinary services at the Food Standards Agency and has had a varied and exciting portfolio career in government veterinary services. She graduated as a vet from Edinburgh University in the 1990s, before completing a postgraduate project in Oman. She then worked in general practice in the UK, New Zealand and Hong Kong before working as a temporary veterinary inspector for the State Veterinary Services in 2001.
Within Defra and APHA she held roles in the operations, policy, veterinary and science directorates. In the wider profession, Jane is a member of the British Veterinary Association’s Welsh Branch Council, and is a past president of the Association of Government Veterinarians and European Association of State Veterinary Officers. She is currently serving as vice president on the board of the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe for the 2023 to 2025 term.
