A message to our learning community After much consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the Improve Veterinary Practice platform on 13 January 2026. Improve Veterinary Practice was built to support vets and nurses at every stage of their career, and while this chapter is ending, a new one is starting at Improve Veterinary Education. Isabelle Ruhnke

Dr Isabelle Ruhnke graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from the Free University in Berlin before obtaining a doctorate at the gastrointestinal laboratory at Texas A&M University. She completed an internship at the University Clinic in Berlin before further specialising in small animal medicine (MSc) and the impact of feed technology on intestinal health (PhD). In 2021, Isabelle became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition. She is now a gastrointestinal discovery manager and part of the global innovation team at Royal Canin.
