Arthrocentesis of the hip

We will demonstrate how to perform arthrocentesis of the hip. We will use the greater trochanter of the femur as our anatomical reference. The joint puncture is performed slightly proximal and cranial to the greater trochanter. In this case, we use a 22G, 3 inch spinal needle as the hip joint is quite deep.
