Fourth year of fireworks campaign

ROCKETS and Catherine wheels may
not be the only things creating a big
noise this fireworks season. More cats
and dogs need help to treat their
phobias, says Dr Monkey, who believes
that the lead up to 5th November is a
big deal for those pets that suffer
firework phobia.

Dr Monkey will be voicing his
opinions on the blogosphere in the lead
up to the event to help make pet owners
more aware of the issues.

Dr Monkey is a nine-year-old
Border Terrier from Dorset who will be
bringing his experiences to the attention
of pet owners on Facebook, Twitter
and at http://dorwestdrmonkey.
blogspot.com from 27th September.

His activities will be part of
Dorwest Herb’s Firework Phobia No Fear
campaign, now in its fourth year. Several
years ago, Dr Monkey conquered his
fears by taking Dorwest Herb’s Scullcap
& Valerian Tablets – the company’s best
seller in veterinary practices.

Over a million doses of the licensed
tablets and the supplement Valerian
Compound are sold in and around the
fireworks season. Both can be used
alongside other treatments or alone and
are said to produce relaxation without
causing drowsiness or disorientation.

Roly Boughton, marketing director,
explains, “Dr Monkey will be helping us
empathise with the millions of pet
owners who have watched their pets
suffer because of noise and firework
phobia.

“As well as giving practical tips and

information in the six-week lead up to
the big day, Dr Monkey will also be
explaining to pet owners that their vets
can help and will encourage them to
visit their local practice.”

The company is offering a 40%
discount on all Scullcap & Valerian
Tablets and Valerian Compound
purchased by 31st October 2010 to
those practices which order direct.

There is also a selection of
promotional products available
including client leaflets, leaflet holders,
posters, shelf wobblers, a counter top
display unit, badges and postcards.

Dorwest has also been active in
producing technical papers that gather
the evidence for the mode of action of
herbal treatments so that veterinary
professionals can make objective
decisions and the firm’s latest technical
sheet on phobias is available free on
request.
