Great Western Exotics, one of the UK’s leading referral services for exotic birds and animals, is holding a CPD session on how to triage raptors in a veterinary practice.
Led by Adam Gregory, head nurse at Great Western Exotics, the online talk will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 4 April.
It is free for vet professionals to attend and will also count towards attendees’ annual CPD requirements.
Raptors, or birds of prey, can present at veterinary practices unexpectedly for a number of reasons.
And with Pet First Aid Month in April, the CPD session is a great opportunity for first opinion vets and nurses to become more familiar with the needs of these birds to ensure they receive the best treatment possible in emergency situations.
Adam will take attendees through the basic triaging steps to assess and review treatment that may be needed, as well as covering a range of common presenting problems.
Adam is the exotics head nurse at Great Western Exotics in Swindon and has experience globally as both a veterinary nurse and a zookeeper.
The referral hospital is part of the IVC Evidensia group, and its expert team is made up of eight of the UK’s leading exotic vets, specialising in the care of birds, rodents, reptiles and zoo animals, including fish and amphibians.
Veterinary professionals are invited to sign up to the talk by emailing Jess.
