VMG strengthens team to enhance member support

The Veterinary Management group has appointed a new Head of Group Operations and Development, and created the new role of Chair

The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) has appointed a new Head of Group Operations and Development. It has also created the role of Chair to increase the effectiveness of its board of volunteer directors.

Angela Mantzios has joined the VMG as head of group operations and development. In this role she will oversee its day-to-day operations and is responsible for the implementation of the association’s ambitious growth plans. She brings membership and marketing experience from a range of commercial and charity organisations to the VMG.

One of Angela’s first priorities is to review and enhance the range of services and benefits it offers to its members. Her appointment will enable Dr Hannah Perrin, who previously fulfilled some of this role, to focus on developing the VMG’s range of qualifications, including the Award in Veterinary Leadership and Management (AVLM), as the VMG’s first dedicated learning and qualifications manager.

Commenting on her new role, Angela said: “Helping our members to develop their skills in leadership and management is at the heart of what we do because it offers them the opportunities, recognition and improved salaries they deserve, while also improving the performance of their businesses.

“I look forward to helping take the VMG forward in this next stage of its development.”

The VMG’s directors have also appointed Miss Ruth Mackay as chair of the board for a three-year term.  Ruth, a director of the VMG since 2014, is the co-owner of a small animal practice in Lancashire. In her role as chair, she will manage the operational side of the VMG’s work, enabling the President, to focus their time on representing the VMG externally to its members and other stakeholders.

Commenting on her appointment as Chair, Ruth Mackay said: “I am proud to become the VMG’s first Chair and hope to create an environment in which we can become even more creative, innovative, efficient and accountable to our members.

“I will work with the VMG President, currently Rich Casey, to ensure that their vision and strategies are implemented and that we continue to serve our members and the wider veterinary profession.”

The VMG is the professional association for all those in leadership and management roles in the veterinary sector. It aims to empower and equip veterinary leaders and their organisations to learn, share, and grow.
