Realise your leadership potential: an event to empower veterinary women

Veterinary Women in Leadership will be hosting an online CPD event to help women across the veterinary profession with problem-solving challenges and building confidence in working towards their career goals

“Realise Your Leadership Potential” is an empowering online CPD event focusing on problem-solving challenges and building confidence in working towards career goals, offered by Veterinary Women In Leadership (VWIL).

VWIL is a collaborative initiative between Veterinary Woman and XL Vets.

The event, sponsored by Provet Cloud, will include interactive workshop sessions on “Finding Flexible Working Solutions”, “Financial Security and Negotiation Skills” and “Developing Your Personal Brand”.

Women from all areas of the veterinary industry will also be sharing their inspirational career stories.

The virtual event provides six hours of CPD and will take place between 1pm to 7pm on 7 December 2022. Those interested in attending can find out more here.

The speaker line-up for the event includes Flexee’s Silvia Janska, who takes a look at how flexible working solutions can be implemented in practice to empower individuals and teams and benefit the business.

Katie Ford and Paul Horwood from VetYou will be addressing overcoming barriers when talking about navigating and creating security with money to arm delegates with negotiation tools and useable resources.

Hamzah Malik from Regent Animal Health will also lead a workshop to build delegates’ confidence in ways to explore and articulate personal identity and strengths, and apply brand marketing principles to boost career success.

The event will also feature “Seeing is Believing” breakout sessions with female speakers from all spheres of veterinary practice, business, industry, nursing and education, sharing their career stories and taking part in Q&A sessions.

A key enabler to development as a leader is seeing others do it and hearing their career stories – effectively having role models.

Alice Moore of Garston Veterinary Group and XL Vets will be hosting the event alongside Jenny Langridge of Companion Consultancy and Veterinary Woman.

Alice explains “We aim to help delegates explore actions they can take towards reaching their career goals, develop confidence in meeting leadership challenges and feel empowered about achieving aspirations.

“Hearing others’ stories and being able to talk with women about their careers is inspiring and encouraging.”

The event is suited to all those thinking about the next career step, considering leadership roles or already working within leadership positions in the veterinary sector.

Veterinary professionals and students can take advantage of an early-bird rate until 20 November.
