Business and careers sessions at BVA Live

To help inspire and empower veterinary professionals, the British Veterinary Association have added business and career sessions to their new event, BVA Live

Business and careers sessions have been added to the programme at the brand-new event, British Veterinary Association (BVA) Live this summer to help inspire and empower those in the veterinary community.

BVA Live, which takes place from 23 to 24 June 2022 at NEC Birmingham, is being held by the British Veterinary Association and organisers of the London Vet Show, CloserStill Media (CSM), and aims to bring the veterinary community together to champion, support and empower the profession.

The two-day event includes an extensive exhibition, big issue debates and high quality and practical CPD covering a huge range of clinical and non-clinical topics, as well as plenty of networking opportunities, including a social event on the first evening.

As part of the event, BVA and CSM have created an exciting programme of talks, among them specific business and careers sessions, which will run on both days in the BVA Career and Debate Theatre. Topics will range from how to make your CV stand out from the crowd, leadership career stories and rebuilding veterinary businesses for “health, wealth and happiness”.

Former vet and now managing director of Sandstone Communications, Paul Horwood, is among the speakers who will be presenting in the BVA Career and Debate Theatre on the Friday. He will be discussing “Leadership – being outside of your comfort zone” and is really looking forward to taking to the stage. He said: “I am so looking forward to catching up with friends and colleagues. Leadership is all about the people, talking, interacting, motivating and inspiring each other, and it is important that we spend time connecting and interacting in reality after so long behind a screen.”

The programme continues to evolve, with more speakers to be announced in the coming weeks, but the current sessions are:

BVA President Justine Shotton said: “BVA Live is an exciting new event and has something for everyone in the veterinary community, from sessions on clinical work to debates on the latest developments and issues facing the profession. The business and careers sessions, which cover a wide range of topics, will provide practical tips and advice to empower you to grow and thrive in your career. There will also be the opportunity to network with other professionals and experts.

“We are really looking forward to hosting the event with CloserStill Media and can’t wait to see so many veterinary professionals together.”

Rob Chapman, MD of CloserStill Media’s Vet Shows, said: “Our delegates at the Vet Shows have consistently been asking for more nonclinical education. They want more understanding of how the wider environment is affecting their business, a deeper understanding of how that impacts their team in practice and practical tools to solve their issues. With BVA Live, we have an exciting opportunity to place all that content in one theatre. With everything from contentious issues, business advice, communication tips and leadership inspiration. We are giving our attendees a holistic view of many things effecting the profession, from macro to micro.”

“There will also be a big focus on the delegates getting the microphone and asking questions. After everything that has happened over the last couple of years, it is really important chance for the profession to have their voices heard”

Tickets for the event are discounted for members at just £211+VAT for members if booked before 31 March 2022. For more information, to book your tickets and for the full conference programme please visit: the BVA live website.
