Webinars for veterinary professionals to address obesity, laminitis and the ageing horse

SPILLERS and MARS Equestrian are offering a series of free CPD webinars on how to support laminitic, obese and senior horses

The SPILLERS brand is proud to partner with MARS Equestrian Sponsorship, integrating Mars, Incorporated’s equine-focused brands and services, to offer a series of free continuing professional development webinars on how to support laminitic, obese and senior horses.

The three virtual webinars have been designed for all veterinary professionals, as part of the MARS EQUESTRIAN™ Equine Veterinary Continuing Education Series. Each session will focus on a different topic, presented by nutrition and veterinary specialists in research, diagnostics and product development.

They will take place on Saturday 30 October 2021 from 10am to 12pm, EDT 3pm to 5pm BST; Saturday 6 November 2021 from 10am to 12pm EDT, 2pm to 4pm GMT; and Saturday 13 November 2021 from 10am to 12pm EST, 3pm to 5pm GMT. Subjects will include obesity, laminitis and the senior horse, covering relevant research and providing up to date nutritional advice, as well as current guidance on diagnostics.

Pat Harris, RCVS specialist in clinical nutrition (equine) and director of science for the SPILLERS brand, will deliver research updates to expand understanding of equine ageing, laminitis and obesity.

Amy Polkes, equine diagnostic specialist at Antech Diagnostics, will present the latest information on diagnostic and wellness testing recommendations for laminitic, obese and senior horses, together with information on how to talk to owners about the changing medical needs of these special cases.

Nettie Liburt, senior equine nutrition manager at Mars Horsecare US, Inc., working on the BUCKEYE Nutrition brand, will present on nutritional management of senior, obese and laminitic horses.

The series integrates Mars, Incorporated’s equine-focused products and services which include WALTHAM Science, ANTECH, SOUND, BUCKEYE Nutrition and SPILLERS brands. US delegates will earn CE points.
