RCVS gets back on the horse for BEVA Congress

RCVS will attend the 2021 BEVA Congress, showcasing some of the current major projects being undertaken by the College with both a physical and a virtual stand

After a long absence due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) will be making its first in-person appearance at a veterinary event when staff attend next month’s British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) Congress.

The Congress takes place from Sunday 5 to Tuesday 7 of September at the ICC in Birmingham and RCVS staff will be on hand with both a physical and a virtual stand to give an overview of some of the current major projects being undertaken by the College and answer any questions delegates may have.

Among the projects being showcased will be the recently launched Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP) that aims to support new graduates in the further development of their clinical and professional capabilities, resilience and confidence, to establish a fulfilling career as a veterinary professional.

The RCVS will also be demonstrating the recently announced MMI App, produced in conjunction with the Kite Programme, a microlearning platform from the Mind Matters Initiative containing learning modules for veterinary professionals in areas such as mindfulness, breathing activities, and physical exercise for wellbeing.

During the course of the event the RCVS will also be promoting the Veterinary Nursing Diamond Jubilee programme, the ViVet innovation initiative, the upcoming RCVS Fellowship Week and the Mind Matters Mental Health Research Symposium.

Angharad Belcher, RCVS Director for Advancement of the Professions will be attending the event and said: “After such a long absence, the RCVS team is really looking forward to being back at an in-person event, and we look forward to welcoming the professions to the stand.

“It has been an extremely busy year across the various departments at the College, and while we have been able to host meetings virtually, we are glad to be able to talk to vets and nurses in person and to share updates and news.

“Currently we are celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Veterinary Nursing and the development of the new MMI Kite App for wellbeing and we also have further events and activities planned, so follow us on social media for more news and updates.”

The full programme for BEVA can be found at the Congress website For full details about VetGDP and the MMI Kite App visit the RCVS and Mind Matters websites respectively.
