Linnaeus has reaffirmed its commitment to excellence by creating a clinical board made up of representative veterinary clinicians and RVNs from across it practices.
Following on from the recent creation of its unique central support veterinary nursing team, Linnaeus has launched its clinical board to ensure the best quality of care is delivered across its UK sites and ensure clinical practice can be at the best level possible for each animal and client.
The board will be chaired by Linnaeus chief medical officer Professor Séverine Tasker and will be composed of founding members in the central support team, clinic associate veterinary and RVN members, clinic associate subject matter experts and representatives for other subjects such as physiotherapy.
Reporting to the Linnaeus executive team, the newly-created clinical board will be tasked with supporting the group’s medical strategy which ensures the best standards of care can be provided throughout the group.
Founding members include Luisa De Risio, deputy chair and executive lead as well as clinical research and excellence director at Linnaeus, Mark Taylor, primary care medical director, and Terry Emmerson, referral medical director, along with central support nursing members Vicky Ford-Fennah and Sam Thompson.
Clinic associate members include Simon Davies, clinical director at Avonvale Veterinary Centres, Stephen Baines, head of oncology at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service, Isabella De Rosa, new graduate vet at Cinque Ports Vets, Danielle Banks, referral RVN at Davies Veterinary Specialists and Claire Rogers, primary care RVN at Village Vet.
Meanwhile, members of the clinic associate subject matter expert vets, who will be involved in discipline-specific Linnaeus activities, comprise a veritable who’s who of the veterinary world, including Andrew Parry, head of imaging at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service; Andrew Perry, head of dentistry at Eastcott; Elvin Kulendra, orthopaedics specialist at North Downs Specialist Referrals; Fabio Stabile, neurology specialist at Southfields Veterinary Specialists; Janet McClaran, head of surgery at London Vet Specialists; and Sophie Adamantos, clinical director at Paragon Veterinary Referrals.
Prof Tasker, who joined Linnaeus, which is part of Mars Veterinary Health, in late 2018, said: “The creation of our clinical board is another key step to ensure Linnaeus continues to provide the very best possible care to our patients and clients.
“We are lucky to have many highly talented, experienced and skilled clinicians, including talented recent graduates, in our practice teams across the country, so it will be a huge benefit to the business as a whole to pool these resources in search of clinical excellence and best practice.
“The board’s remit will include items such as looking at new technology and equipment, novel drugs, protocol and policy for management of contentious conditions or use of alternative therapies, along with any group-level decisions that would have a major clinical impact.
“We will also be looking at group-wide change or adoption of existing validated clinical tools such as checklists, products and protocols, plus group-level clinical guidelines, training and complex or contentious clinical standards.”
