AniDent dental care range for cats and dogs launched by Europe’s leading veterinary care provider

IVC Evidensia launch a new dental care range, AniDent, for cats and dogs in collaboration with Virbac

With research (conducted by the American Veterinary Dental Association) revealing that 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats develop periodontal disease by the age of three, Europe’s leading veterinary care provider, IVC Evidensia, has launched AniDent to address the critical nature of effective preventative dental care.

Designed to help pet owners provide the very best in preventative oral care at home, AniDent will offer a high quality range of complete dental care products. The range has been created in partnership with award-winning animal health company Virbac and is available exclusively from IVC Evidensia practices across the UK and Netherlands.

RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry and EBVS European Veterinary Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry, IVC Evidensia UK Gerhard Putter, BVSc, MANZCVS (Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery), DiplEVDC, MRCVS, commented on the new dental range: “Periodontal disease is the most common problem affecting dogs and cats; it has numerous and severe ramifications, both locally within the mouth and systemically. Caused by a build-up of plaque and tartar on the teeth and gums, in theory it should be easily preventable – yet we found pet owners were finding current products on the market challenging to use.

“On the back of demand, we created this easy to use range, specifically designed to make oral care simple for pet owners with different needs. Simplicity of use combined with highly effective ingredients are key to successful long-term management and prevention of teeth and gum disease.”

When it comes to preventing periodontal disease, speed is crucial. Plaque forms in 24 hours in both dogs and cats, tartar in three days and gingivitis as fast as two weeks. If left untreated, gingivitis can quickly develop into periodontitis which can cause irreversible damage. AniDent allows for easy preventative oral homecare, for both pet and owner.

The initial dental care range includes AniDent Oral Rinsing Solution, a refreshing and soothing antibacterial oral rinsing solution containing effective levels of a well-researched oral disinfectant to control levels of bacteria in the mouth. AniDent Natural Defence Toothpaste, a specially formulated enzymatic toothpaste to inhibit plaque-forming bacteria. Poultry flavoured to aid compliance, it is safe to swallow so no need to be rinsed away after application.

For cats and dogs that won’t tolerate brushing, the highly palatable meat flavoured AniDent Soothing Gel would assist maintaining healthy teeth and gums, reverse early signs of gum disease and slow the progression of disease. This antibacterial soothing gel also reduces redness, and decelerates plaque biofilm formation.

Brushing teeth physically disrupt the plaque biofilm and the AniDent Dual-Ended Toothbrush, designed to fit easily into the pet’s mouth, and the AniDent Finger Brushes, make process much easier and effective.

IVC Evidensia practices will further benefit from launch webinars hosted by Virbac – including interviews with IVC Evidensia vets; ongoing practice support webinars; support materials, including internal training.

AniDent strengthens the IVC Evidensia exclusive brand portfolio, following on from the recent EquiXcellence equine supplement range, the acclaimed Vetpro collection, a premium quality 100 percent natural healthcare product range designed to support the ongoing health and wellbeing of dogs and cats, and VetSoothe, an exclusive clinically-proven dermatology product collection to IVC Evidensia in the UK.
