Call for animal and animal product importers to register on new system

A few weeks ago, the no-deal Brexit guidance for animal importers and exporters was released and the government trialled the launch of the new UK import notification system – IPAFFS.

On 18 March 2019, IPAFFS was launched. It is now accepting registrations as part of the public beta testing phase. First-time users should register via the gov.uk start page.

The IPAFFS user guidance on gov.uk has been updated to explain the registration process and helpful “how to” videos have been published on YouTube. These include a video for registering on IPAFFS as a limited company, as a sole trader and adding additional users.

The overarching animal imports guidance has also been updated on how to import from the EU after Brexit with a downloadable import notification form for EU to UK imports now available.

Businesses have been emailed with extra detailed guidance on IPAFFS and invited to a series of web-based workshops.
